How to Wash Your Hardshell Jacket?Updated 2 hours ago
To keep your jacket performing at its best and avoid any mishaps during cleaning, please follow the steps below carefully:
Step 1 | Prepare Your Garment
Before washing, take a few moments to prep your jacket properly:
Close all zippers, buttons, and Velcro fastenings
Loosen any elastic drawcords to avoid strain
Remove surface dirt or debris by gently rinsing the jacket with water
Wash the garment separately from other items to avoid damage or color transfer
Step 2 | Washing
Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C (lukewarm water)
Use a liquid detergent, preferably one designed for technical fabrics (we recommend Nikwax Tech Wash)
Do not use fabric softeners, bleach, or rinsing agents
After the wash cycle, run an extra rinse to make sure all detergent is removed
Do not dry clean
Step 3 | Reapply Water Repellency (If Needed)
If your jacket’s water repellency has started to wear off:
Wash it a second time, this time using a DWR treatment (e.g., Nikwax TX.Direct)
After treatment, tumble dry on low heat to help activate the DWR coating
Step 4 | Drying
For regular washes, air dry the jacket naturally by hanging it in a well-ventilated area
Make sure the jacket is completely dry before storing it
General Storage Tips
Always store your jacket only when fully dry
Choose a cool, dry place that’s free from excess heat and humidity
Avoid storing your jacket in tight, compressed spaces for extended periods
Proper care helps extend the life of your outerwear and ensures it performs at its best for years to come. If you’re unsure about reproofing or specific detergents, feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected].
